Young thug Jack Tweed was today sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for beating up a taxi driver.
Chairman of the magistrates Margaret Webb passed the lighter sentence (less than he got for his first assault) and said, "We have borne in mind the recent change in your personal circumstances and have reflected this in the length of the sentence, which would otherwise have been 18 weeks."
Wow, nine weeks for beating someone up.
His personal circumstances are irrelevant. He has no responsibility for his stepchildren; this is not the first time that he has been violent (and will surely not be the last) and he was not exactly the best boyfriend to his now late wife, chatting up girls on Facebook and having sex with at least one in a club lavatory.
Classy man. Two years would have been a fair sentence and that should mean two years.

Get tough on binge drinkers not the rest of us
Tesco announces that it will only serve alcohol to those who look over 25 or if they look younger must provide ID to prove they are of age.
This has happened after the store was prosecuted and fined £6,000 with £250 costs after its Blackpool branch admitted it has sold alcohol to children on more than three occasions.
The legal age to buy alcohol in the UK is 18, not 21 and certainly not 25. It is plainly daft that anyone refuses to sell booze to anyone over 18. It is their legal right to buy booze unless a pub landlord decides that they are already more than one over the eight.
It is supposed presumably to cut down on binge drinking. There is a simpler way and that is to get people to take responsibility for their actions. If you want to get legless, fine but if you cause a nuisance, if you gt into a fight, if you urinate in the street then the law should and must come down on you heavily.
You will be arrested. You will spend a night in the cells. You will be up before a magistrate in the morning or if it is a Friday night you can spend the weekend in the cells and you will be fined. No community service. Fined. And if you do it a third time you will go to prison.
Let's see how many repeat offenders we get...
